“KLU is an academic family for so many different nationalities”, explains Ursula Horst from the International Office. “So our idea was to show this diversity on a very substantial level: Food.” Students, faculty and staff of KLU prepared dishes from their home countries. The buffet presented Greek dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) next to German Frankfurter Grüne Sauce (potatoes and boiled eggs with a sauce made from herbs), Russian potato salad side by side with Mexican pan de muerto (a sweet bread), French crêpes, wine, and cheese in combination with Indian rajma and thepla (a curry and Indian bread).
“Everything was very tasty”, says Ursula. “And we were happy to see so many people come and participate in this event.” After all the bowls were emptied and all the spoons were licked, the organizers agreed on one thing: Tastes of the World will be continued next semester.
