Application and Selection Procedure

All applicants who have submitted their full application documents by the application deadline and who have complied with the set formal admission requirements can participate in the selection procedure.
THE KLU believes in a proper balance of ability to study and the right personal components. Apart from capabilities, efficiency and willingness to perform, traits such as personality, social competencies, the ability to work in a team become increasingly important for a successful course of study as well as for ones future working life.

The admissions process consists of two steps:

Step 1: Evaluation of application documents

The Admissions Office evaluates form and content of your application documents against a set assessment scheme. Assessment criteria are:

  • academic profile (e.g. grade point average, English language skills, mathematics skills, professional competencies)
  • letter of motivation
  • internships and other practical experience
  • intercultural experience
  • extra-curricular activities and social engagement
  • further skills (e.g., IT, foreign languages)

Step 2: Personal interview

The personal interview is a significant element of the admissions procedure and helps to get a realistic impression of an applicant and to identify behavioral characteristics which cannot be grasped by a written performance record. Qualified applicants will be invited to a structured personal interview. It will be reviewed whether the applicants meet the demands of the program and the future professional activities in the field of management. Assessment criteria are:

  • verbal English skills
  • motivation (field of study) and career choice
  • general performance motivation
  • target orientation, power of endurance, ability to work under pressure
  • social competence, e.g. engagement in student council, extra-curricular engagement
  • responsibility, self-reflection, independence

Following the personal interview, the Admissions Committee decides on the applicant’s admission to the B.Sc. program.

Application deadlines

We accept applications year-round. The application deadline for the program starting in September is March 31 for the first round and June 30 for the second round of the intake year. We recommend submitting applications as early as possible. For applications received by February 28, 2013, applicants are granted a 10% early bird discount on the overall tuition.

We strongly advise applicants from non-EU countries to apply until March 31. The visa process takes up to 2 months counting from the time of being admitted to KLU. Please also keep in mind that there are a lot of other organizational matters to deal with when planning a study abroad.

Application fee

We charge a non-refundable application fee for processing your application. Please transfer the application fee to our account, stating the reference: "LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, PROGRAM". Please choose the correct program. We use Paypal for payment processing.
