Globally networked supply chains and their underlying logistics systems rely on an efficient management of information in and across organizations. Logistics information systems are socio-technical systems that are responsible for capturing, processing, exchanging and providing information and supporting logistics stakeholders in their decision-making.

The objective of the module is to provide students with an overview of information systems in logistics. The module covers the following contents:

Concept and theoretical basics of information systems in logistics

• Enabling information and communication technologies

• Enterprise application systems that support key logistics functions, i.e. resource management, transport management, warehouse management

• Enterprise application systems that support cross-enterprise collaboration

• Planning and design of logistics information systems
