Prof. Dr. Çerağ Pinçe

Assistant Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management

Dr. Çerağ Pinçe is Assistant Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at the Kuehne Logistics University. He received his PhD in Management from Erasmus University, Rotterdam and MS in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara. Before joining the KLU he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the College of Management at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta.

Professor Pinçe’s specialization is on inventory management and supply chain management. In these areas, his research focus is on management of closed-loop supply chains, after sales service logistics, and operations/marketing interface. As a primary tool, he uses stochastic processes and optimization to analyze operational and strategic issues encountered by firms while managing their supply chains. These issues typically require complex decisions about stocking, ordering, pricing and capacity where nonstationarity plays an important role. The objective of his research is to better understand the impact of nonstationarity on inventory systems and supply chains, and develop policies and insights guiding operations managers tackling such complex issues. As a member of SLF Research, a Netherlands based research platform consisting of service logistics companies and universities, he has been in collaboration with companies like IBM and Fokker Services. His research has been presented at major international conferences and workshops, and lead to several papers some of which are appeared in European Journal of Operational Research. In 2008, he received Erasmus Trustfonds Foundation support to visit the College of Management at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta as a visiting researcher.  

Professor Pinçe has taught Advanced Inventory Control and Supply Chain Management at the MSc program in Econometric Institute of Erasmus University. He also delivered class sessions to logistics professionals at the MSc in Maritime Economics and Logistics program at Erasmus University, and at the Master of Global Logistics Management program at Asia Pacific School of Logistics at Inha University, South Korea. Prior to his PhD, he worked as a researcher at the department of Algorithm Design and Test at the National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptology of Turkey.
