Professor Alan McKinnon, Dean of the Department of Logistics at THE KLU, contributed to the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

One of the major themes addressed by the Davos conference this year was global supply chain risk. From Japanese tsunamis to Thai floods, the vulnerability of long and fragile global supply chains is readily apparent.

Professor McKinnon moderated a seminar on this topic which examined risk management and resiliency in the context of modern international supply chain operations. Janet Napolitano, US Secretary of Homeland Security, and senior business executives participated in this seminar. Professor McKinnon also gave a report to the CEOs of major logistics companies on the activities of the World Economic Forum's Logistics and Supply Chain Council which he chairs.

The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.
