10 New PhD Scholarships at KLU

Students talk in front of the golden egg

To celebrate the right to grant doctoral degrees, KLU launches new PhD scholarships. Ten aspiring young researchers will get the chance to advance their academic career in the fields of Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Management.

In September 2017, the Hamburg Senate granted KLU the right to confer PhD degrees. A major achievement for the university. Now, KLU is taking the next step. “Research at KLU is at the forefront of current developments, with a strong connection between theoretical perspective and practical application”, said Jan Fransoo, Dean of Research at KLU. “By offering ten new PhD scholarships, we want to give students the opportunity to be part of the strong research at KLU and to provide them with the best preparation possible to make their entrance into the scientific world.”

The PhD program at KLU lasts four years. It mainly consists of independent research under supervision by KLU’s outstanding faculty, and is supported by advanced coursework taught by KLU faculty and our partner universities and wider networks.

Research will be carried out in the fields of Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Management. Candidates are specifically encouraged to develop research proposals addressing the main challenges in the industry within KLU’s Key Competence Areas Digitalization, Creating Value and Sustainability.

The scholarships will be donated by the Kühne Foundation. Application is open immediately and will remain open until all positions are filled. Successful applicants will start their PhD program on September 1, 2018.
