Black mortarboards go flying into the air

Happy, smiling faces, excitement in the air, and then, finally, the big moment when the black mortarboards go flying into the air: It’s Graduation day at KLU!

This year, 98 students from 22 countries received their degrees from KLU President Thomas Strothotte. Among them for the very first time the 23 students of the BSc in Management. “I am extremely happy to see our first Bachelor’s cohort graduate today”, Strothotte said in his Graduation speech. Then he pointed out that, wherever this year’s graduates were heading to from now on, they would be welcome to stay in touch with their university. “As alumni of KLU, you will always stay part of the KLU family”, he said.

In his speech, Dr. h. c. Klaus-Michael Kühne, founder of KLU, congratulated the graduates on their achievements. He pointed out that by earning a degree from KLU they were well prepared to lead teams and to take responsibilities in the management of logistics companies worldwide.

In addition to conferring the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, Strothotte also honored this year’s outstanding students. Jan Frahnert (MSc Global Logistics) received the award for the best master’s thesis. In his thesis, he addresses the possibilities for shipping companies to optimize revenue by utilizing an innovative cargo split model. The award for the best bachelor’s thesis went to Yana Asenova (BSc Management), who examined the effect of country of origin and price on consumer behavior in wine purchasing. The best students awards were presented to Eike Simon Langer (BSc Management), Lasse Johann Heitmann (MSc Management), Peter Müller (MSc Global Logistics), Martin Städele (Executive MBA), and Yusuf Waluyo Jati (Executive MBA at IPC).
