How 'Deutschlandstipendium' supports KLU students (Part II)

Deutschland Stipendium title page

Since September 2021, KLU was again able to award the Deutschlandstipendium to twelve KLU students in all degree programs. This unique scholarship, which is supported by private donations matched by public funds, grants twelve months of unconditional financial support to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and/or social commitment. A bit more than halfway through the term, we asked our scholarship holders for some feedback. Part two of our series of insights from scholarship holders.

Owing to the pandemic that affected the world, I went through some pretty tough days stressing out about the possibilities if I didn’t manage to find a job to cover my expenses. The financial aid provided by Deutschlandstipendium offered me a certain amount of relief as it covered a portion of my expenses. In addition, I managed to accommodate some of my time towards my passion for volunteering at Arbeiterwohlfahrt. The generosity bestowed upon me by this scholarship redefined the meaning of support for me and morally enlightened me with the desire to become a Good Samaritan. This scholarship could certainly continue to rescue students in phases of turbulence.

Shiladitya Das, M.Sc. Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Class of 2022

The Deutschlandstipendium helps me enormously in financing my studies. It enables me to concentrate on my studies and to volunteer for the university in my free time, especially at the student-run non-profit consultancy advisupply. Here I strive to create lasting added value for all students by organizing workshops with my team and bringing students into contact with companies. I also was a student ambassador, often represented KLU at digital fairs, and sought contact with prospective students. Ultimately, the Deutschlandstipendium is a great motivation for me. Knowing that I am supported always fills me with immense gratitude and gives me energy and strength in difficult times.

Steffen Hübener, B.Sc. Business Administration, Class of 2023

Getting additional financial backing from the Deutschlandstipendium enabled me to further increase my engagement within the KLU family, in the Academic Senate, for example, or as a student ambassador. It also provided further peace of mind as well as resources to make the most out of my semester abroad in France. It is a great way to support engaged and hard-working students in further pursuing their ambitions – without them worrying about financial shortages while providing an opportunity to try new paths and take new initiatives. Ultimately, it aids in making KLU the interactive and engaged community it is.

Robert Marten Rings, B.Sc. Business Administration, Class of 2023

The Deutschlandstipendium helped me in various situations. In my semester abroad it served as a helpful source of money, in addition to the ERASMUS program, which made the stay abroad so much less stressful. Further, I am able to go beyond my normal horizon as a student by receiving a reward for my work and engagement, thus catalyzing even more engagement in my actions around me, both academically and socially.

Marten Ben Müller, B.Sc. Business Administration, Class of 2023

The 2021/2022 academic year started as usual for me, but originally from Ukraine, I was greatly influenced financially and mentally by the war between Ukraine and Russia that began in February 2022. Deutschlandstipendium’s financial support allowed my family and I to support people in Ukraine. Also, it gave me the ability to buy equipment for attending lectures at home. By connecting with talented students, I believe that companies strengthen their role in the network and help young talents evolve professionally.

Evelina Kirkach, M.Sc. Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Class of 2022

I have largely saved my financial support from the Deutschlandstipendium to cover the costs of my semester abroad in the USA. Without it, I would not have been able to complete the semester abroad. The Deutschlandstipendium can have a big impact on the life and success of the scholarship holder with a relatively small monthly amount. Furthermore, sponsoring a student is not only financial support, but rather a door opener for the respective scholarship holder. With the financial support provided by the scholarship, young talent is supported in pursuing their academic and professional interests, and they are able to make the best decision for their future career path.

Moritz Becker, B.Sc. Business Administration, Class of 2023
