KLU in Stormy Waters

Presidents Regatta sailing boat

It’s not about falling, it’s about getting up again! In retrospect, this could well have been the motto for KLU in the annual President’s Regatta. The sailing event took place on the Outer Alster Lake on June 22, 2018. Participating schools had to meet one requirement: A member of the university’s management in every team.

Organized by Hochschulsport Hamburg, the event saw ten teams competing for the trophy. For KLU, Managing Director Fabian Berger and Dean of Programs Professor Christian Barrot, together with Research Associate Moritz Jäger-Roschko and Online Marketing Manager Christian Bonnecke hoisted the sails.

And while bad weather and stormy gusts capsized the boats of three teams, KLU was the only one of them to continue the race. Any hopes of bringing home a medal were left in the waters of the Alster Lake after the KLU team got back on board. Nonetheless, the four competitors proved what can also be applied to studying and research sometimes: It doesn’t matter if you’re soaking wet as long as you keep on sailing!

Congratulations to Hochschule für Bildende Künste for winning the race and to the KLU team for keeping up the spirit!
