KLU welcomes Dr. Shushu Liao as new Professor of Finance

Prof. Dr. Shushu Liao

Shushu Liao joined Kühne Logistics University as an Assistant Professor of Finance in September 2021. Dr. Liao has previously worked as a Research Fellow at the Auckland Center for Financial Research, Auckland University of Technology and as a Lecturer at Lancaster University Management School.

Dr. Liao’s interests cover a broad range of topics in corporate finance and corporate governance. For example, she has employed dynamic modeling in corporate finance to investigate the interactions between financing and investment decisions, finance and labor, and the link between collateral shocks and the real economy. Most recently, she has investigated the impact of corporate inventory holdings on stock market responses to COVID-19, so as to identify those factors that determine the optimal corporate strategy. “I look, for instance, into the financial implications of companies’ corporate social responsibility policies,” she says.

At KLU, Dr. Liao plans to e.g. combine supply chain management with finance, leadership and CEO behavior, and to analyze “green” or sustainable finance. “I am really looking forward to working with my new colleagues at KLU and exploring new research fields,” she says.

Dr. Shushu Liao received her Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University Management School. She also holds an M.Sc. in Finance from the Imperial College London.
