Dr. Maria Besiou, Associate Professor of Humanitarian Logistics, was elected president of the College of Humanitarian Operations and Crisis Management (HOCM), which is part of the international Production and Operations Management Society (POMS). Her former position at HOCM was Vice President Outreach.
The new president took office on January 1, 2016 and will serve a two-year term.
HOCM College is a set of members from the POMS community whose objective is to connect the communities of academics and practitioners with a common goal of achieving effective, efficient humanitarian operations and crisis management. The college organizes research tracks, mini conferences, panel discussions, best paper awards, and POMS conference workshops.
