This is the second time in three years that the KLU professor for Leadership and Organizational Behavior has been honored for the extraordinary quality of his classes. “Niels Van Quaquebeke is one of the best professors I ever had,” said one of his students. His lectures “convey content that we will be able to use for our whole lives,” stated another student. Indeed, a former student of his confirmed that she found his teaching already interesting while she was attending his classes at the KLU, but was not fully able to appreciate the value of the insights until she actually started working in an organization. Today, his seminar slides are in her desk drawer, ready to be pulled out whenever need be.
“Personally, I think excellent research and teaching belong together. Nothing is as practical as a good theory. But students have to be able to experience the theories to be able to make use of them,” said Van Quaquebeke. “This is why I use many experiential exercises in my classes to help students learn in a way that truly connect the dots.” His students seem to agree.
Dean of Research Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Sönke Albers presented the award during the graduation ceremony in the KLU auditorium last Friday.
Prof. Van Quaquebeke teaches leadership and organizational behavior, as well as negotiation and conflict management to KLU Master students. Additionally, he teaches in the KLU executive program on motivating talent and handling difficult human relations.
