Success for KLU athletes

Several KLU sports scholarship holders and alumni recently enjoyed successes in hockey. KLU alumni Kilian Pöhling and Maxi Schlüter and the Harvestehuder Tennis- and Hockeyclub (HTHC) won the German championship after a thrilling final match against “Der Club an der Alster” (DCadA) and KLU student Simon Mundorf (MScIM) and alumnus Fidi Gröpper. Marie Jeltsch (BSc) and DCadA took home second place in the women’s German championship. KLU was also represented in the hockey world championships: Jack Heldens (MScIM) and the US team came in fourth at the indoor hockey world championship in South Africa, while Bili Ntuli (BSc) and the South African team took home eleventh place at the Hockey World Cup in India.

“We’d like to congratulate Maxi and Kilian on their win, and to congratulate all our current and former students on their top performance. We’re very proud to see so many athletes make it to the respective final rounds, which tells us that KLU’s support program for athletes is working as it should,” says Johannes Dietz, Sports Coordinator at KLU.

KLU is an official “Partner University of Professional Sports” and partner to both the German University Sports Federation (ADH) and the Olympic Center Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein. As part of this cooperation, KLU offers both a targeted scholarship program for athletes at the national league level and tuition reductions for these athletes. In addition to financial aid, flexible and individual solutions are available to help students reconcile their studies with professional sports.
