Kühne Logistics University (KLU) has taken part in the City of Hamburg’s City Cycling Challenge (Stadtradeln) for the first time ever. From September 1 to 21, 2021, a pilot crew of university members collected kilometers for the cycling team KLU_Sustainability in the name of a greener, safer, and more bike-friendly Hamburg.
Ride your bike wherever you go was the idea. As a result the KLU team cycled about 900 kilometers. Across Hamburg, more than 11,000 cyclists took part in around 1,200 teams. All together they covered 2.1 million kilometers, saving 308 tons of CO2 compared to car use.
During the current semester, KLU will invite staff, faculty, and students to some more sustainability challenges in order to make KLU a more sustainable place.
All data was retrieved on September 22, 2021. Participants have one week to add kilometers to their profile, which may lead to final results that differ from this article.
