Degree program: MSc Logistics & SCM
Motivated by the increasing importance of the international framework, the module “International Economics” attempts to deepen the students’ understanding of the key principles of open economies. Among others, we will discuss the balance of payments and important trade models for this purpose. We will also analyze the consequences of international trade on factor income and potential distribution effects. In the second part of the module, our interest will shift towards more company related questions like foreign direct investment, currency systems, and hedging strategies in the volatile currency markets. We will use exercises and up-to-date policy issues like “currency wars” and global financial crises to discover how to translate theoretical approaches into real-world applications.
