How to Apply

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university or college*
  • Proof of English language proficiency: please have a look at our different options here

*The bachelor’s degree must comprise 180 ECTS for the standard track and cooperation track or 210 ECTS for the fast track and the part-time track.

Applicants for the fast track must have done at least one academic term abroad during their previous university study. Equally possible to prove an internship abroad, which was officially part of the bachelor’s degree program.

We require a degree in business or economics, but will consider other analytical fields such as industrial engineering, business informatics, and mathematics if your bachelor's degree contains a sufficient number of courses in business (at least four). There are different ways to make up for missing business courses, please find an overview here. Foreign university degrees will be evaluated according to the guidelines of the German Council of Higher Education.

A passing grade on the GMAT or TM WISO test is not an admission requirement, however, the Admissions Committee will consider test scores positively.

Tracks

Full-time standard track with a duration of 2 years (4 semesters). A practice-oriented internship and a semester abroad are integrated. For students who completed their first degree outside of Germany, the semester abroad is optional.

In the second semester one of two focus blocks, “Sustainable Management” or “Digital Management”, with each containing four specialized modules, has to be chosen.

Students with above-average grades have the opportunity to apply for the “Independent Studies” module scheduled in the second and third semesters. This module offers students who aspire to an academic career the opportunity to work on research projects from the academic or entrepreneurial field, which  may be used as an entry project for a doctoral degree. The module "Independent Studies" can be used to replace two compulsory elective modules in the second semester and one compulsory elective module in the third semester.

Standard Track curriculum

Full-time fast track with a duration of 1,5 years (3 semesters). All courses take place on KLU campus in Hamburg. A practice-oriented internship is included. 210 ECTS from a previous bachelor’s degree are required for this track. A semester abroad is not included.

In the second semester one of two focus blocks, “Sustainable Management” or “Digital Management”, with each containing four modules, has to be chosen.

Fast Track curriculum

The Part-Time Track is completed in five semesters and comprises 90 ECTS. An extended Bachelor's degree with 210 ECTS is required for admission. All courses take place on KLU campus in Hamburg. A practice-oriented internship is replaced by a practice report. A semester abroad is not included.

The Part-Time Track is based on the Fast Track in terms of the modules offered, but can be completed in an extended period of four semesters and, hence, offers more flexibility to students who cannot follow a full-time study program. The fifth semester is reserved for the master's thesis.

Part Time Track curriculum

Students will spend the first semester at KLU in Hamburg (Germany), the second semester at the Tongji University in Shanghai (China), and the third semester at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (Tennessee, US). The final semester is dedicated to the master’s thesis. Studies follow a predefined curriculum. Students may apply for a double degree at Tongji University.
