Lecture

The inaugural lecture, "Future of Pharma: the Roadmap," presents comprehensive pathways for the pharmaceutical industry in the years to come. It emphasizes the need for personalized medicine, small-volume drug production, and the potential of AI-powered drug development, with a focus on achieving low costs for society. The location of pharmaceutical facilities and optimization of storage and distribution are also discussed to increase the sustainability of the pharmaceutical supply chain. The lecture suggests a new pricing system based on quality management scores and the availability of spare capacity to prevent shortages. It discusses the regulatory challenges faced by the industry and offers ways to improve regulatory policies. The lecture proposes state-run multi-purpose facilities for critical drugs, state-backed financing, and active state interventions to maintain optimal competition levels. It also advocates for transparency in the industry for regulators and market participants. Lastly, extensive pharmaceutical supply chain mapping is recommended to understand bottlenecks and strategic dependencies.
