Abstract
This seminar presents an innovative reengineering methodology to design value-creating Supply Chain Networks (SCN) under uncertainty. It starts by discussing current business challenges and strategies affecting SCN design. It then gradually introduces a modeling framework that can be used to optimize network structures under uncertainty. Starting with basic design problems, more advanced models anticipating inventory and routing decisions, are then examined. The use of stochastic programming techniques is discussed and the notions of risk, robustness and resiliency are addressed. Finally, military and humanitarian applications of the SCN design methodology are briefly presented. This research output grew out of projects on the design of effective and robust SCNs at the Interuniversity Research Centre on Enterprise Networks, Logistics and Transportation (CIRRELT) in Canada and of the work of graduate students in supply chain management at KEDGE BS in Bordeaux, France.
Biography
Walid Klibi, obtained his Ph.D. in Supply Chain at Laval University's business school in Quebec City, Canada, in 2009. He is, since 2011, a professor of Supply Chain Management at KEDGE Business School in Bordeaux, France, where he is currently the head of the Centre of Excellence in Supply Chain (CESIT). He is also an associate member of the Interuniversity Research Centre on Enterprise Networks, Logistics and Transportation (CIRRELT) in Canada. He is actively involved in supply chain management research and is the author of several scientific papers on the design of supply chain networks. He is also the co-author of a book entitled "The Design of Value Creating Supply Chain Networks" which is intended for an academic and professional audience. He is also involved in teaching activities with the ISLI programs and in executive training with private organizations, and he is invited to speak to professional and scientific audiences on a regular basis. He contributed to the development of SC-Studio, a commercial supply chain network design tool.
