Abstract

For employees offended at work, sometimes forgiveness/reconciliation is a necessity for we can't always 'break up with' or walk away from our coworkers or boss. But why do employees sometimes choose to forgive and/ reconcile with their offender?  People can forgive for many reasons:  because they feel sorry for the offender, because they feel superior to the offender, because they are afraid of the offender or incapable of seeking vengeance against the offender. Dr. Bennett will present her research on the topic of employee forgiveness motives and their effect on employees' health and wellbeing. She will offer suggestions for managing conflict in the workplace that may facilitate forgiveness and promote better employee health outcomes.
