From family ownership to private equity and now public - the brand with an ethos of growth

Hamburg, 1962 – a growth story begins based on the philosophy “Casual fashion for a casual life”. TOM TAILOR, then a family-owned clothing retailer, is today a successful international lifestyle company.
Since 2005 a majority private equity stake has been held in the Company.
The 2009 global economic crisis required businesses to find new ways to develop. TOM TAILOR chose to go public in 2010, listed in the SDAX stock market index. 
This allowed TOM TAILOR to reduce net liabilities and, as a result, interest expenditure.

Biography:

Dr. Axel Rebien (CFO), born in 1971, joined the former TOM TAILOR Holding GmbH on October 1, 2005 as head of Finance and has since been responsible for Finance and Accounting, Controlling, IT, Human Resources, Logistics, and Legal, and Investor Relations. On January 1, 2008 he was appointed chief financial officer (CFO) of the Company’s management board. His term as board member runs until January 31, 2013. 
Dr. Rebien underwent his banking training at Bremer Landesbank. After completing his training, Dr. Rebien studied economics at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University in Hannover while simultaneously working for five years (with interruptions) in various areas of Bremer Landesbank, including the Capital Markets department in London, United Kingdom. In 1999 he joined the auditing firm Arthur Andersen, where he worked as a project manager from 2000 to 2001 and as a manager in the Transaction Advisory Services area from 2001 onwards. Dr. Rebien earned his doctorate from the Technical University of Chemnitz in tandem with his job. After the merger between Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young, he remained in the company’s Transaction Advisory Services area until 2005.
