Bachelor’s degree or a comparable degree in a relevant study programme from a foreign or German university. Prerequisite for admission is in general a bachelor’s degree with 240 ECTS. All fields of study may qualify for admission. The decision is made by the Admissions Committee.
In accordance with the rulings of June 28th, 2002 amd September 18th, 2008 by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany, up to 60 ECTS points can be added to Bachelor’s degree results for fewer than 240 ECTS points upon presentation of an applicant’s individual skills in order to reach the 240 ECTS point required for admission to the Master’s program. The Admissions Board decides on recognition of these ECTS points. An applicant’s work experience can be recognized as equivalent to up to 60 ECTS points. A year of relevant experience counts for a maximum of 30 ECTS points. Other qualifications include academic further training (e.g. transfer modules). Applicants’ qualifications must be relevant to the learning objectives of the degree program. Applicants must provide written proof of their qualifications. The conditions for recognition of qualifications are otherwise determined on a case-by-case basis.
Applicants who do not have the required 240 ECTS points after their additional qualifications have been recognized by the Admissions Board but who are admitted to the Master’s program may not graduate from the program with 300 ECTS points.
Each year, prior to the start of the application process, the Executive Board of Kühne Logistics University may publish a minimum grade point average for the course (numerus clausus). The bachelor’s degree must have been completed with a grade point average higher than the stipulated minimum. If no minimum grade point average is published, there is no GPA restriction on admission.
In the case of foreign degrees the recommendations of the Central Department for Foreign Education of the KMK will be followed. Additionally, the results of the evaluations by Kühne Logistics University should be taken into account.
If the applicant does not hold a first academic degree, admission may be made subject to the condition that the applicant takes an entrance examination. The provisions for the entrance examination are laid down in the Examination Regulations for the Entrance Examination to the Master’s Program in Leadership & Logistics. The decision is made by the Admissions Committee.
Applicants must have a sufficient knowledge of written and spoken English to enable them to follow the teaching programme. Applicants who are non-native English speakers according to KLU’s list of English speaking provenience countries must provide evidence of their English skills through submission of TOE, IELTS or equivalent certificates. Applicants must have a minimum of 550/213/79 TOEFL points; the minimum IELTS band is 6.5.
At least five years of relevant professional experience since graduation is required. Work experience is considered to be relevant if, during this period, the applicant was entrusted with qualifying operational tasks in the company and can prove continuous professional development. In addition, managerial experience is highly desirable. Work experience that had been gained previously to a first academic degree may be considered but this is not commonly the case. The Admissions Committee decides whether earlier work experience will be recognized and counts toward the minimum five year experience requirement.
Applicants must declare that they have not definitively failed an examination leading to the degree of Master of Business Administration or an equivalent examination in the same or a related discipline at a university and that they are not involved in a pending examination procedure for such a degree.
