Michael Ntiriakwa

PhD Candidate

Michael Ntiriakwa started his PhD program at the Kühne Logistics University on 1 September 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Dr Johannes Meuer and Prof. Dr Christina Raasch. His research interests are corporate sustainability, waste management, urban planning, and the platform economy. However, his PhD research focuses on digital platforms. He is particularly interested in exploring the impact of eCommerce platforms on the sustainable supply chain in the retail industry. In Michael’s view, companies could harness the full power of digital platforms to make their supply chain sustainable.

Michael did his Bachelor of Science in Human Settlement Planning (Spatial/ Urban Planning) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. During his academic life, he has taught Junior High School Students and prepared them for the Basic Education Certificate Examination. He pursued his Master of Science degree in Environmental Management at the Christian Albrecht University of Kiel, where he graduated among the best students in his class with an outstanding grade. In his master’s thesis, he uses the case study method to address the waste management issues in Accra by looking at the 3r Approach to the Integrated Management of Municipal Solid Waste in the capital.

Michael is someone who combines social life well with academic life. Before joining KLU, he served in several leadership positions. And notable among them is serving as the President of the Ghana Students’ Association in Kiel, Germany and as a project manager for the Ghana Union, Kiel Schleswig Holstein (GUKSH – Germany).
