Johanna Schnier joined KLU as PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Christina Raasch and Prof. Dr. Prisca Brosi in September 2019. With her research she contributes to the project “Idea evaluation in open, democratized innovation” funded by the German Research Foundation. Johanna investigates how idea evaluators assess innovative ideas, with a particular focus on potential idea evaluation biases created by social ties, incentives and social comparison between idea creator and idea evaluator.
Johanna holds Bachelor degrees in Economics and Sociology from Friedrich Schiller University in Jena where she worked as research assistant at the Max Planck Institute of Economics in the field of Experimental and Behavioral Economics. She pursued her Master studies at the Christian Albrecht University in Kiel. In her thesis, she empirically examined the economic determinants of successful drug development in the pharmaceutical industry. In her position as research assistant at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy Johanna worked on various projects in the field of Innovation Economics.
Johanna interned with the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the Federal Foreign Office and, before joining KLU, worked as Data Scientist for TUI InfoTec GmbH.
