Top Employers Recruit at Kühne Logistics University

Guests of career event on KLU campus

On January 16 and 17, an exclusive career event took place at Kühne Logistics University for the second time. Many renowned employers such as Tchibo, Jungheinrich, Capgemini Consulting and Kühne + Nagel, the logistics company, used the event to conduct personal career-related talks or screen talent for their companies during the workshops.

Exclusive tours of the Jungheinrich production facilities and an excursion to the container terminals in the Port of Hamburg rounded out the 36-hour career event – which also included a group dinner on Friday evening.

The career fair was targeted to university graduates from all types of universities who studied (industrial) engineering and business administration, development engineering, supply chain management/logistics, purchasing/procurement, organization/planning or transport/traffic management. This event is different from other event formats in that the participating companies pre-select the students and invite them to personal interviews and workshops. By being invited to the event, the 70 participating students had cleared the first hurdle toward finding a job. More than 250 students Germany-wide applied to be able to participate.

Ralph Schneider Maul, head of supply chain management at Capgemini Consulting DACH, is enthusiastic about the participants’ high quality: “Today’s young people are simply well educated. For the most part, the applications that I receive only contain arguments for hiring the candidates! This also applies to many of the students I met in the course of today’s workshop. It is particularly important that the consultants on my team know a lot about supply chain management and IT.”

Nadja Laugwitz, a KLU student, landed a spot in one of the coveted workshops and also introduced herself to Kühne + Nagel. “In the Capgemini workshop, we divided into small groups to explore the optimization potential in a car manufacturer’s supply chain, We didn’t have much time and the task was very demanding,” Nadja reported. “I felt that the challenge was appropriate for my level of knowledge. We have frequently structured and solved cases in KLU classes. My interview with Kühne + Nagel was also very positive. Both companies would definitely interest me to work for after finishing my Master’s degree. This event is ideal for networking and becoming familiar with a variety of companies.”

The Logistics and Supply Chain Management Career Event is organized by recruiting specialist access and takes place at Kühne Logistics University. KLU decided to host the event to support its students in finding out which field to work in and securing their first jobs in the field.
