Immo Schmidt-Jortzig Appointed Executive Director of Administration at KLU

The experienced university manager Dr. Immo Schmidt-Jortzig will be the new Executive Director of Administration of KLU (Kühne Logistics University). As of September 1, he will succeed Fabian Berger.

The jurist Dr. Schmidt-Jortzig, born 1974, brings with him 16 years of experience in various academic management positions. Most recently, he served as Chancellor of the Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA), where he was responsible e.g. for developing and implementing six new degree programs and oversaw an administrative staff of 60. During his time in office, the HSBA doubled the size of its student body and expanded its faculty to up to 33 professors.

Under his leadership, the HSBA’s administration set its focus on sustainability and digitalization in the organization. Dr. Schmidt-Jortzig holds a Ph.D. in Public Law from Münster University (Germany).

Dr. Jörg Dräger, Executive Director of the Board of Trustees of the Kühne Foundation and Chairman of the KLU Supervisory Board, appointed Dr. Schmidt-Jortzig to serve as Executive Director of Administration: “Growth, internationalization, and entrepreneurship: in the years to come, these goals will shape and challenge KLU in equal measure. Thanks to his wealth of experience in academic management and at a business school, Dr. Schmidt-Jortzig is the right choice at the right time.”
