KLU welcomes Marcos Ritel as new professor for international trade

Marcos Ritel joined Kühne Logistics University as an Assistant Professor for International Trade in September 2020. KLU thus adds a new field to its portfolio in research and teaching.

The trade economist is also an affiliated researcher at the Kühne Center for Sustainable Globalization at the University of Zurich. His research agenda focuses on the causes and consequences of preferential trade agreements. Using quantitative methods that combine economic theory and data Prof. Ritel, PhD, is working on a deeper understanding of what drives policy decisions during trade negotiations. In addtion, Prof. Ritel is also interested in the role of developing countries in the world trading system.

Prof. Marcos Ritel, PhD, received his PhD in Economics from the Sao Paulo School of Economics - FGV in Brazil in 2020. During his graduate studies he attended the Department of Economics at the University of Zurich as an SNSF Excellence in Research Scholarship Holder. He was also a PhD intern at the headquarters of the World Trade Organization in Geneva, where he conducted policy-oriented research.
