Abstract

Improving the efficiency and sustainability of supply chains is a shared aim of the transport industry, its customers, governments as well as industry organisations. The first standard on carbon footprinting in transport (EN 16258) has been analysed resulting in suggestions for methodological improvements and a discussion on the impact of the methodological choices on directional accuracy of CO2 emission computation, data availability and feasibility of practical implementations in real business environments. In the seminar we are going to take a look at the basis carbon footprinting methodologies for transport and logistics chains, and consider preliminary results of the practical carbon footprint implementation cases of the GLEC Framework in real world logistics operations, which have been conducted in the LEARN EU H2020 project.
