Erik Essink is a PhD Candidate in Humanitarian Logistics at the Kühne Logistics University since September 2018. Before starting as a PhD Candidate at KLU, he has worked at as a research associate at the department of Public Health at the Erasmus Medical Center (EMC) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He conducted his bachelor and master studies in Econometrics (specialization Quantitative Logistics and Operations Research) at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. During, his bachelor studies, he spent one semester abroad at the University of Mannheim. He also gained practical experience by performing his graduation internship at Netherlands Railways.
His research at KLU will most likely involve the forecasting and preventing the spread of infectious diseases in developing countries using mathematical modelling.
