How it works…

The Eastern Europe Scholarship is a unique academic educational model, available from 2021 to 2023, for bright young minds from Eastern Europe, and is financially supported by member companies of the German Eastern Business Association and by Kühne Logistics University (KLU).

It offers member companies of the German Eastern Business Association the exclusive opportunity to make targeted investments in their own future managers and, in collaboration with one of the best business universities in Germany, to shape a new generation of managers.

The scholarship is intended to benefit hand-picked young talents from Eastern Europe: ten especially promising bachelor’s graduates in business disciplines, who, starting in September 2021, as part of a fully financed master’s degree program at KLU, are to be prepared for international management careers with a future focus on Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Scholarship duration: two years.

In terms of contributing, there are both financial and content-related aspects:

Companies that wish to contribute must, as scholarship sponsors, be prepared to make an investment of 10,000 euros per year and student, for a duration of two years. As a gesture to celebrate its 10th anniversary as an independent university in the fall of 2020, KLU will cover the remaining study costs. Every scholarship holder must cover her or his own living expenses in Hamburg.

In terms of content, contributing companies have the option of providing mentors to accompany scholarship holders during their studies at KLU, to offer them internships, and to provide them with practical research topics to explore in their final thesis papers.

In this way, their sponsored master’s degree program at KLU will simultaneously be an intensive phase of exchanges with and getting to know the contributing company, which could ideally culminate in subsequently being hired by it as of 2023.

KLU is one of the best business universities in Germany, and received numerous awards for research and education in its first 10 years. At its campus in Hamburg, it offers young people from around the globe, which frequently includes students from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, high-quality courses held in English.

KLU’s chief focus areas are Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Leadership in Theory and Practice, and are attached varying degrees of significance in one bachelor’s and four master’s degree programs.

In this regard, KLU has a clear goal: to prepare young talents for international careers in top management in industry, commerce, logistics and consulting. Here, profound expertise and methodological competences are just as important as intercultural awareness and linguistic skills. Today, several hundred KLU alumni have profited from this approach to education and successfully made their careers in international management.

By supporting the Eastern Europe Scholarship, KLU also hopes to serve as a bridge-builder, connecting young and ambitious Eastern Europeans and German companies that are active in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and that, for this purpose, wish to help develop future experts and leaders from these regions in keeping with the highest international educational standards: a new generation who possess both the technical expertise and linguistic skills needed to operate at both the regional and international level.

Marina Odnokonnaya, Student MSc in Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management

Studying at the KLU gave me not just extensive practical-oriented knowledge about supply chain management, it shaped my personality. During the 2 years of my master's program, I got inspired by so many motivated and smart people, fought my reticent and got involved in different extracurricular activities, took advantage of different networking opportunities, and got my internship in a well-known big company. KLU is definitely the best place to study if you want to learn from very successful and wise professionals, to make friends for life, to get incredible support for any queries you may have, and simply to enjoy your time at university
